FLEETMASTER CASE STUDY
Secure Integration and Cost-Efficient EC2 Strategy
Challenges
Benefits
Executive Summary
Fleetmaster, a leading player in the logistics and transportation industry, faced challenges around data migration, stringent security requirements, and implementing an efficient CI/CD pipeline. The company turned to Futuralis to deploy a new Amazon EC2 server securely and efficiently. By leveraging AWS services and adopting a 3-year EC2 Savings Plan, Fleetmaster achieved cost reductions up to 72% and enhanced operational efficiency within a scalable environment.
The Challenge
Fleetmaster's hurdles included configuring a new Amazon EC2 server while integrating an application securely. They needed to migrate data to AWS, all while maintaining top-notch security. Additional needs involved setting up an efficient CI/CD pipeline for seamless future deployments. Failure to address these issues could lead to data breaches, operational inefficiencies, and hindered scalability.
Why Futuralis & AWS
AWS was chosen for its robust set of services capable of meeting Fleetmaster’s complex needs. Its mature ecosystem, especially around EC2, offered proven solutions for secure data migration, integration, and scalability.
Fleetmaster engaged with Futuralis due to its expertise in AWS solutions and a strong track record in solving similar challenges. Futuralis was uniquely positioned to ensure secure, efficient, and cost-effective migration and integration.
Our Solution
Futuralis delivered by setting up a VSS server and migrating Fleetmaster's data to AWS. They also strengthened security via AWS Single Sign-On (SSO) with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA). Remote access was managed securely through AWS Systems Manager. For cost-efficiency, a 3-year EC2 Savings Plan was selected, which promised up to 72% cost savings compared to on-demand pricing. The EC2 instance was optimized with 4 vCPUs, 16GB RAM, and 1TB EBS storage capacity, complete with scheduled snapshots and backups.

Results & Benefits

Cost Savings: 72% Cost Reduction via EC2 Savings Plan
Fleetmaster opted for a 3-year term EC2 Savings Plan. This long-term commitment allowed Fleetmaster to save up to 72% in costs when compared to on-demand pricing. Reduced operational costs provide a financial cushion, allowing for investment in other strategic areas.
Operational Efficiency: Streamlined Deployments
Automated the Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipeline. Facilitated quicker and more reliable deployments of updates and new features. Improved operational efficiency allows Fleetmaster to adapt to market changes more swiftly, laying a foundation for scalability.
Enhanced Security: Bolstered Security Measures
Implemented AWS Single Sign-On (SSO) with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and secure remote access. Achieved enhanced protection against unauthorized access and potential security threats. Ensuring the confidentiality and integrity of sensitive data is critical in maintaining trust and compliance with industry standards.
